entry 7: nothing goes as planned part 1

As the title would imply, we had a plan. However, life decided that our plan should be altered. There's a significant gap between this post and the last because of everything that changed. I shall start with the pre-travel changes in this post. Part 2 will address the travel changes. And who knows? There will probably be a part 3 at some point because that's just how life is.
So, last you heard, Chris, Nicky, Kaelin, and I had chosen a TEFL course to all take together. Being an over planner and leaning toward the more anxious side of the spectrum, I reached out to a few places ahead of time just to see their hiring prospects. I hadn't heard anything back from anyone regarding any potential jobs, so the plan was to continue on with the TEFL course.
PLOT TWIST!
I ended up hearing back from an international school for pre-K and kindergarten called Shining Stars in late May. Turns out they had a sudden opening for a teacher in the pre-K (Lower School, as they refer to it). It was a full time position with a decent salary that didn't require a TEFL course. Not only that, it also incorporates yoga into the curriculum. So essentially, the dream job.
I set up a Skype interview with the "principal"/school manager, Cara, followed by Skype interviews with the owners, Ae and Markus. Everything fell into place quite perfectly. I had landed a job. And I didn't have to pay to take the TEFL course. I could just show up and make money.
Wait for it...
After sharing the news with Christopher that the initial interview had gone well, he says "sweet, do they have any other jobs?" Being a small school I shot it down pretty quickly; I didn't want to ask for more than I had been offered. Beggars can't be choosers, right?
WRONG!
Upon my final follow up interview/seal the deal Skype call with Cara, she asked if I was coming with anyone who might be interested in teaching. No way. Is this real life? "Well, yes, actually my boyfriend is." Low and behold, Christopher gets a job there too. Part time to start with the opportunity to bump to full time by the end of the year.
So, not only did the universe decide to present me with a wonderful opportunity, but it also allowed me to have my support system within my working environment. It was a pretty magical experience.
Nicky and Kaelin, however, are still planning on taking the course even without me and Chris. Plans changed. But I think they changed for the better. Fingers crossed!
